Anexciting opportunity has arisen for an assistant psychologist to join the Clinical Health Psychology team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The post is a 12-month fixed term position and will be split across the Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS) (0.5wte) and the Burns Service (0.2wte).


The post in IBPS offers a unique opportunity to be part of developingaregionalservice that will offer psychological support service for those infected and affected by contaminated blood products. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and work in conjunction with other professionals.



Within theBurns servicethe postholder will support theservicedevelopment ofaregionalburnspsychological service.This will includeopportunitiesacrossbothinpatient and outpatient working.

There will also be opportunities for shadowing clinical experiencesacross both services.



The post holder will be warmly welcomed into a supportive team of psychologists who work within a variety of medical specialities. These includeHaematology, HIV, Stem Cell Transplant, Intestinal Failure and Heart and Lung Transplant.



The post holder will be working under the supervision of a clinical psychologist and will receive regular clinical supervision.



The post would suit somebody wishing to pursue a career in clinical psychology.


The post holder willassistin a variety of defined tasks as outlined by the IBPS and Burns service lead psychologists. These tasks will encompass both clinical and non-clinical responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Supporting qualified psychologists with direct client interactions, including assessments and treatment.

• Supporting qualified psychologists with providing consultation and supervision to other professionals.

• Supporting outreach and engagement initiatives.

• Fostering close collaborative working relations withrelevant third-sector organisations.

• Supporting qualified psychologists in governance, audit,researchand clinical administrative activities, collecting,collatingand analysing data,resource collection,writing and presenting reports andassistingin project development.


Tasks will be agreed and reviewed atappropriate intervalsunder the supervision of a qualified psychologist, but the post holder will be expected totake these tasks forward independently on a day-to-day basis.
