Planning Enforcement Officer
Reference number: Nuneaton 5268129
You will provide a planning enforcement service which is a key part of the Development Control Service, designed to ensure compliance with planning regulations and policies. You must be able and willing to travel throughout the borough.
It involves the following tasks:
Investigation of complaints and alleged breaches of planning control, to include site inspections, visits, undertaking observation and conducting interviews.
Maintaining accurate records of site visits and evidence gathered during investigations.
Giving advice to alleged offenders and complainants on planning and enforcement procedure, including progress on complaints in line with policies and protocols.
Dealing with the discharges of conditions and monitoring implementation of development
Provide advice and information to the public and other customers on enforcement matters, including by phone, in person, by letter and internally by reports to others including legal services.
Carry out interviews and make accurate records under caution in accordance with procedures of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 or other related legislation
Draft and serve a range of enforcement notices, including Planning Contravention Notices, Breach of Condition Notices, Requisition for Information and Enforcement Notices, Temporary Stop Notices and Stop Notices
Prepare and give factual evidence at planning hearing and inquiries and court proceedings

Key requirements
Qualifications equivalent to Level 2 on the national skills framework in English and Maths
Qualification in planning or enforcement (desirable)
Recent and relevant experience in a Local Government or other public organisation
Experience in planning enforcement activities
Knowledge of investigating complaints including collecting and recording evidence and carrying out interviews
Excellent written and verbal communication skills sufficient to deal with complex information
Ability to read plans
Must hold a full, valid drivers’ licence and have transport to travel for role
Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word and other appropriate software applications
May be required to work outside of core hours to meet the needs of the service
