Summary

Are you a dynamic and experienced Senior Communications Officer who would like to join our Policy, Insight & Communications Team?


Who?

It’s always an exciting time to work in local government, but more so now at Wealden as we strive to deliver some significant projects for our communities in the run up to local government reorganisation. This role is pivotal in enhancing and streamlining communication and marketing activities within the council, ensuring that all colleagues and the public are well-informed, engaged, and aligned with the council’s objectives and values.


What will you be doing?

• Developing and implementing effective communication strategies that align with the council’s objectives and priorities.
• Creating and delivering engaging content for various external communication channels.
• Providing guidance to senior leaders on sensitive communication needs and tailoring messages for different audiences.
• Protecting and enhancing the reputation of the council through effective communication strategies.


What do you need?

• Has significant experience in marketing or public relations.
• Understands communications and campaign planning and how to meet the needs of a wide range of stakeholders.
• Has an excellent awareness of the appropriate use/merits of all forms of media including press, video, radio, social media, digital communication, and emerging technologies.
• Has an audience-first mindset, with a passion for creating innovative and engaging communications that engage, inform, and influence.
