It is a very exciting time for our Maternity Services at Newham University Hospital Barts Health NHS Trust providing maternity care to women and families from the local population and surrounding areas. Come and join our midwifery team as we rise to meet the challenges of today’s changing maternity climate.
The post holder will support the discharge process on the postnatal ward by enabling a streamlined process which meets the needs of our patients from their admission to discharge home. The post holder is key in ensuring good communication with women and their families,
liaison with key stakeholders and departments to ensure safe and timely discharge from hospital,
working in par with the midwife or ward managers.

We are a friendly, inspired and innovative team who are keen to make a difference to the care provided to our patients, whilst simultaneously supporting our teams development. Our maternity unit at NUH comprises of a 17 bedded labour ward, a 52 bedded maternity ward, stand-alone
Maternity Day Assessment Unit and Triage, alongside and stand-alone Midwife-Led Birth Centers, Antenatal Clinic and Booking Center. We are proud of our maternity service and are on an exciting maternity improvement journey. We have a large Community workforce consisting of 6 midwifery teams providing care to families in Newham. As part of the National Maternity Review, we have a case loading Midwifery team for the Newham site with plans for further roll outs.
