An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Mangotsfield Primary English Hub as an English Hub Lead on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed leader with expertise in early reading and phonics to deliver high-quality Medium Level Support (MLS) to schools across South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, and BANES.

As part of our successful DfE English Hub – supporting over 400 schools since 2018 – you will play a key role in programme development, delivering impactful professional development, coordinating quality-assured showcase events, and increasing engagement from schools not yet involved in Hub activity.

You will lead at least one DfE Central MLS programme, line manage Literacy Specialists, and contribute to the strategic leadership, quality assurance, financial oversight, and wider development of our English Hub provision.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on early reading outcomes across the region.

The successful candidate will be:

✅ Hold qualified teacher status

✅ Have a good understanding of the DfE English Hub Programme

✅ Have excellent subject knowledge and understanding of phonics, early reading and reading for pleasure

✅ Have the ability to plan and deliver high quality, innovative professional development which meet the emerging need of schools and leaders in our area

✅ Share a positive vision of children’s education and development especially around the importance of early reading and early language

✅ Ability to use data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and to plan further professional development which results in improvements in educational outcomes

✅ Have a real desire to be a part of a hardworking, supportive and creative team and be motivated to make a real difference

✅ Form positive relationships with adults, schools and stakeholders from a range of settings

✅ Have excellent communication and facilitation skills
