Summary

Opportunities to move to the new Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA)

At the moment all IBCA roles are hosted by Cabinet Office within the Civil Service. However, once IBCA becomes operational, it is anticipated that most of these roles will transfer to IBCA, which is a new Arm’s Length Body (ALB) separate from the Cabinet Office. Roles that transfer to IBCA from Cabinet Office will maintain the same (Infected Blood Compensation Authority) or substantially the same terms and conditions of employment that are overall no less favourable. It is anticipated that employees who move from Cabinet Office to IBCA will be able to continue to participate in the Civil Service Pension arrangements with no break in their pensionable service. Roles commencing after IBCA has become operational will be with IBCA itself on similar terms and conditions. All successful candidates will receive full details of the terms and conditions of employment for their role with their formal job offer.

Please note that the mission of IBCA means that it is likely to be operational for a period of approximately 5 to 7 years. When IBCA’s work begins to wind down, IBCA employees will receive support and practical guidance to find a new role, whether in the Civil Service, another Arm’s Length Body (ALB), or an external employer.

The IBCA’s primary objective is to pay and support people who are eligible for compensation accurately, accessibly, securely and speedily.

This role will play a crucial role in promoting the health, happiness and overall engagement of our employees; a critical role given the emotionally sensitive nature of IBCA’s environment. As the lead, the individual will be responsible for directing the team focused on developing, implementing, and enhancing initiatives aimed at improving employee wellbeing, building a sense of community, and fostering a culture of inclusion and engagement. The individual will also analyse existing and develop new measures to attain engagement and feedback from employees on their experience of the workplace and their wellbeing.

This role will suit someone with great people management skills, who is curious, able to work with discretion, possess sound judgement and innovatively develop initiatives to drive great employee wellbeing and engagement.

This leadership role is key to shaping and driving the overall wellbeing strategy, ensuring that our people’s mental, physical, and emotional needs are prioritised in an integrated and holistic way. The right individual will lead a talented team of wellbeing and engagement professionals and work closely with leaders across the organisation to ensure that all initiatives are aligned with our company values, mission, and strategic objectives.

The IBCA’s primary objective is to pay and support people who are eligible for compensation accurately, accessibly, securely and speedily.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting colleague wellbeing and engagement across IBCA Operations, ensuring clear direction, motivation, and professional development, whilst fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive wellbeing strategy that includes physical, mental, emotional, and financial wellbeing across Operations, aligning with the overall IBCA approach.
  • Regularly assess employee wellbeing needs and adjust strategies to address emerging challenges,
  • Develop and execute programs designed to increase employee engagement, morale, and productivity.
  • Utilise feedback from employees to inform decisions and improve experience.
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on the success and impact of initiatives and potential areas for escalation.
