We are working with a welcoming and well-respected specialist school in Halesowen who are looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), complex communication needs, and a range of cognitive and learning difficulties.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a nurturing, inclusive environment and wants to help young people grow in confidence, independence, and achievement.
Your Role Will Include:
- Working closely with individual pupils or small groups to support learning and engagement.
- Helping deliver structured routines and visual communication strategies tailored to each student's needs.
- Supporting students in developing their social, emotional, and communication skills.
- Providing personal care when required, and supporting with daily routines.
- Collaborating with a team of teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure a consistent and positive learning journey.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally ASD and communication needs.
- A kind, adaptable, and resilient personality.
- Confidence in working within structured environments and following individual support plans.
- Willingness to assist with personal care and physical support if needed.
- Experience with Makaton, PECS, or sensory approaches to learning.
- A background in education, care, or health and social care.
- An understanding of complex communication and the importance of visual and structured support.
