Key Requirements:

3 A Levels, NVQ 2/3 in Business Administration (or equivalent experience).
Finance or business administration-related training desirable.
Experience working in a finance or accounting environment.
Manual invoice processing and use of bespoke or public sector financial systems.
Experience dealing with external service providers and members of the public.
Confidence using bespoke finance systems and Microsoft Excel.

The purpose of the role is to provide accurate, efficient, and timely financial and administrative support to the Children’s Commissioning Team. The Finance Assistant will ensure that payments for children's services are processed effectively through a range of systems by working closely with internal colleagues, external service providers, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

Process regular and ad hoc payments through bespoke finance systems in line with council policies and deadlines.
Accurately calculate repayments and overpayments using data provided by service providers or Direct Payment applicants.
Liaise with service providers, internal teams, and members of the public to resolve finance-related queries in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain and update financial records, databases, and spreadsheets.
Support Senior Finance Officers and the Direct Payments Support Officer with routine financial and administrative tasks.
Reconcile payment data and support financial audits or reviews where necessary.
Assist with the explanation of financial procedures, requirements, and payment terms to external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements.
