Key Requirements:

AAT Level 4, CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, or equivalent.
Proven experience in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and Pivot Tables.
Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting year-end activities.
Excellent communication skills to present financial data clearly to non-finance colleagues.
A strong understanding of financial systems, controls, and local government finance.



As a Finance Analyst, the successful candidate will report to the Business Partnering Manager and work closely with Senior Managers and Councillors. They will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, forecasting, and advising on key financial decisions. Contribute to year-end processes and statutory reporting, providing the analytical insights needed to support strategic decision-making across the council.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly management reports, budget forecasts, and variance analysis.
Support budget holders and senior managers with actionable financial insights.
Contribute to year-end accounts preparation and audit response.
Deliver financial analysis for corporate reporting to Cabinet, Scrutiny Committees, and CMT.
Develop and improve finance systems, processes, and controls.
Conduct benchmarking and advise on financial efficiency opportunities.
Ensure risk of overspend and income shortfall is clearly communicated and managed.
