Summary

The following are the core duties and responsibilities of the Salaried GP. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance Effective management of long-term conditions Support the wider clinical team as required Participating in the practice rota undertaking a variety of duties including but not limited to face to face consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, care home visits Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload including participating in extended hours provision. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings, MDT, Safeguarding and other meetings as appropriate Ensure compliance with the appraisal process Prepare and complete the revalidation process Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines Support the GP Partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, and apply principles of self-care Undertake minor surgery as appropriate to competence Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care Participate in the review of significant and near miss events applying a structured approach Lead by example, being diligent in work undertaken and identifying and proactively managing opportunities for improvements Communicate effectively with staff and patients Effectively manage own time and workload Work with the Business and Quality Managers to ensure compliance with CQC regulations and standards Work with the Business and Quality Managers to assist with the development and implementation of projects and new working methods as required Assist with the development, review, update and implementation of practice policies and procedures In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care Further details can be found in the attached Job Description
