Role Location
The role would be office based in London, Brighton, Bristol, Warrington or Brussels (or hybrid home/office based in any of these locations). A home-based role may be considered.

The Role
The role(s) would be part of our specialist Environmental Policy and Economics (EPE) team (environmentalpolicyandeconomics.com), which works horizontally across the Group. The team has been involved with some of the highest profile and complex policy studies for the UK and European Governments, the European Commission, their agencies as well as policy makers in North America, the Middle East and across Asia (including work funded by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank). We benefit from leading roles on a wide range of policy frameworks and a portfolio of work in climate change, air quality and emissions, chemicals, circular economy, waste and water policy.
We are looking for an experienced policy professional to play a leading role in the team, helping us to continue to grow and deliver impactful work of the highest technical quality across our portfolio, both in the UK and internationally. We are seeking an individual able to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (including partners) to deliver tenders and projects, managing the delivery of work, overseeing budgets and providing technical direction and support to more junior staff. The role(s) would suit those seeking a new challenge, looking for the opportunity to develop areas of work and influence team strategy in an agile, entrepreneurial but friendly and supportive culture.
Skills and experience we are looking for:
• Postgraduate qualification in environmental science, economics, law or policy.
• Experience in national and/or international environmental policy development and implementation in at least one of following topics: climate change, chemicals, circular economy, air quality, industrial emissions, waste and/or water.
• Experience in the development, assessment, evaluation, or appraisal of environmental policy for UK or international bodies, government and / or industry clients. This may have been achieved in a consultancy, government, research agency/think tank, NGO or private sector / industry organisation.
• Experience in project management as well as in leading or coordinating funding applications or competitive tendering processes.
• Excellent communication and critical analysis skills with the ability to write clear and concise reports in English.
• As an indication, for a Principal Consultant role, at least seven years of relevant professional work experience would be expected to provide the necessary experience. For Associate Director, at least ten years would be required.
The following would be desirable:
• Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment and coordinating technical inputs.
• Line management, mentoring experience or demonstrable ability to support more junior staff.
• Experience of undertaking complex policy / programme evaluations and/or impact assessments for national governments and agencies or international bodies.
• Experience of working in/with UK Government (and/or their agencies), another national government or agency and/or an international body such as the European Commission.
• Proficiency in other EU language(s).
