Summary

Ambitek are looking for an experienced CNC Milling Programmer to join our client, a market-leading UK-based precision engineering company, delivering high-quality machined components for critical sectors including Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Power Generation, and Rail. Based in Coventry, They offer a wide range of in-house services, including CNC machining, EDM, deep hole drilling, grinding, and inspection.

Role Overview

The CNC Milling Programmer will be responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs to produce precision components to customer specifications. Working closely with the engineering, quality, and production teams, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient machining, superior quality, and continuous improvement across milling operations.

Key Responsibilities

Program multi-axis CNC milling machines (using Fanuc, Heidenhain, or Siemens controls)

Read and interpret detailed technical drawings, CAD models, and work instructions

Generate CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., EdgeCAM, Mastercam, or similar)

Set up and, where required, operate CNC milling machines to verify new programs

Define tooling, fixturing, and cutting strategies for various materials

Optimize programs for cycle time, tool life, and part quality

Perform in-process inspections and verify first-off components

Troubleshoot programming and machining issues on the shop floor

Maintain accurate documentation of programs, setups, and best practices

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience in CNC Milling Programming within a precision engineering environment

Strong working knowledge of 3/4/5-axis machining

Proficiency in using CAM software (EdgeCAM, Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar)

Experience working with exotic materials (e.g., Inconel, titanium, Hastelloy)

Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles

High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities

Familiarity with quality control standards and inspection tools

Desirable Qualifications

Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical/manufacturing engineering

Experience with offline programming and integration with CAD systems

Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO9001 quality systems

Hours Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00
