Pay: £17.00 - £19.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
Working Hours:
. Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30
. Friday: 07:30 - 12:30
Start Date: Immediate
Overview:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior CNC Milling Programmer/Setter/Operator to join a growing precision engineering team. This is a hands-on role involving programming, setting, and operating a range of 3-axis, 5-axis, and palletised 5-axis CNC milling machines, with some exposure to CNC wire-eroders. The successful candidate will lead within the milling section, overseeing a group of machines and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
* Programming, setting, and operating CNC milling machines
* Interpreting technical drawings and 3D digital models
* Producing prototypes and low-volume batch runs
* Performing in-process inspection using both CMM and manual gauges
* Maintaining a clean and efficient working environment
* Ensuring all parts meet required quality standards
* Supporting and mentoring junior team members
* Working collaboratively to maintain productivity and meet deadlines
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a machine shop
* Time-served or apprenticeship-trained in precision engineering
* Strong knowledge of Heidenhain controls and programming
* Skilled in CMM and manual inspection techniques
* Experience using CAM software (SolidCam preferred)
* Comfortable working to tight tolerances with complex materials such as Inconel, titanium, mild steel, aluminium-bronze, plastics, super duplex, and more
* Confident proving unproven programs safely and efficiently
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
* Positive team player with a flexible and proactive mindset
Qualifications:
* Relevant Engineering qualification (NVQ, HNC, BTEC, or equivalent)
* Apprenticeship in mechanical or precision engineering (ideal)
