Renfrewshire Council is proud to support the award-winning Team Up to Clean Up campaign—a community-led initiative that empowers residents and volunteers to take positive action in improving their neighbourhoods. We are currently looking to recruit a dedicated Neighbourhood Services Operative to support frontline volunteers who make this programme a success.

Based at Underwood Road, you will be part of a small, responsive team responsible for the collection and safe disposal of waste and materials gathered by Team Up to Clean Up volunteers across the Renfrewshire area. In this role, you will also contribute to wider litter picking activity, supporting proactive clean-up efforts and enhancing the local environment in partnership with the community.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires effective communication skills, a flexible approach, and a commitment to high standards. You will be expected to work closely with members of the public, volunteers, and colleagues, acting as a representative of the Council and the Team Up to Clean Up campaign. You should be prepared to work in all weather conditions and experience manual work including labouring duties is essential.

A flexible attitude is key, as the role may involve working across different locations and assisting with a range of Streetscene operations depending on the needs of the service.

Experience of dealing with the general public and business community and a valid First Aid at Work Certificate or willingness to work towards is essential.

Knowledge of health and safety practices and experience working as part of a team in a similar environment is desirable.

You will be required to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Please note that if you are successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check. The level of check will be determined based on the duties of the post. Further information about Disclosure Scotland checks can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
