Renfrewshire Council is currently recruiting experienced and motivated individuals for the role of Neighbourhood Services Driver Operative within our Taskforce team. This vital role is based at Underwood Road and involves the collection and safe disposal of fly tipping across the Renfrewshire area.

As a Driver Operative, you will be responsible for driving a Council vehicle, 3.5T cage van, ensuring the safe transportation of materials and operatives as part of a responsive team. You will play a key role in maintaining clean and safe communities, acting quickly on fly tipping reports and supporting the delivery of high-quality frontline environmental services.

The role requires flexibility, as daily work programmes can change depending on the volume and location of fly tipping incidents reported. You will also be expected to rotate across wider Neighbourhood Services and depots in line with operational needs, providing additional support where required.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires effective communication skills, a flexible approach, and a commitment to high standards. You will be expected to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Experience of manual work including labouring duties is essential, along with a full and valid UK driving licence suitable for the operation of Council vehicles.

You should be prepared to work in all weather conditions. A flexible attitude is key, as the role may involve working across different locations and assisting with a range of Streetscene operations depending on the needs of the service.

Experience of dealing with the general public and business community and a valid First Aid at Work Certificate or willingness to work towards is essential.

Knowledge of health and safety practices and experience working as part of a team in a similar environment is desirable.

You will be required to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Please note that if you are successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check. The level of check will be determined based on the duties of the post. Further information can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
