Summary

Focused Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Inventory/Logistics Manager to join our clients manufacturing facility based within the Pontypridd area on a permanent basis.

Overview of the role:

To provide a comprehensive Inventory and Logistics management function that enhances organisational performance and to act as primary advisor to the Board of Directors and Management Team in respect of Inventory and Logistics related issues.

Hours of work include:

Core hours would include 06:00am - 14:30pm Monday - Thursday with an early finish on Fridays of 12:00 however the business do offer flexi time.

Duties of the role will include:

- Develop and execute operational plans within your area of responsibility.
- Set and manage KPIs, monitor performance, and report findings as needed.
- Plan, organise, and allocate logistics and inventory tasks to meet operational needs, optimising resource and personnel use.
- Ensure safe handling, accurate control, and traceability of raw materials and finished goods across storage, despatch, transit, and off-site, including scanning processes.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with key stakeholders to prevent disruptions to Operations and customer service.
- Oversee storage and fleet capacity to align with current and forecasted activity levels, incorporating agility and contingency planning, while managing asset depreciation and renewal schedules.
- Provide strong leadership and direction, setting departmental vision and annual goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and precision by supporting team input and promoting an "accuracy-first" mindset.
- Lead and manage change initiatives within your area.
- Handle team management duties in line with company policy, including:
- Return-to-work interviews
- Policy/procedure counselling
- Disciplinary actions for misconduct or performance issues
- Support employee development through clear objectives, regular feedback, and performance reviews.
- Maintain and update the Departmental Training Matrix to identify and fulfill training needs and enhance team flexibility.

Desirable Experience Required:

- Strong track record of implementing and managing operational plans, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience leading teams in warehouse, despatch, and transport coordination, including performance management and training development
- Knowledge of fleet and storage capacity planning, asset lifecycle management, and cost control
- Familiarity with ERP systems and scanning/traceability processes for goods handling and movement
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including third-party logistics providers
- Experience driving change, managing cross-functional projects, and supporting sustainability or efficiency initiatives
