Fixed Term until 31st March 2026, with possible extension, subject to continued funding.

Are you a reflective, skilled and passionate early years professional with proven experience of securing quality outcomes for young learners through the provision of exceptional learning environments and highly effective pedagogies? Are you looking for a new professional challenge?

The Early Years and Childcare Team is growing as a result of Welsh Government expansion plans, and we are creating additional capacity within our well-regarded team of advisors and childcare development officers.

This exciting opportunity offers the chance for the successful candidate to share their skills, experiences and passions to support, challenge and inspire fellow early years professionals and help improve outcomes in Bridgend’s early years settings.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

A good working knowledge of relevant sector legislation and guidance, such as: The National Minimum Standards, the Curriculum and assessment arrangements for non-maintained settings, CIW and Estyn inspection frameworks

Substantial experience of delivering high quality early years provision, inclusive of children with emerging needs and Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

The ability to evidence the impact of your leadership on the development of colleagues

Excellent communication skills, diplomacy, tact, and approachability

The role provides the opportunity to work flexibly in line with the requirements of the service. As a home working element is offered as part of this role, you will need to ensure you are equipped with a reliable internet connection. Applicants should also be aware that this post will require travel throughout Bridgend.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.

The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.
