Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for organising the three flag ship courses of the ATLS programme, the ATLS Provider Course, ATLS Instructor and the ATLS Reverification Course. They are both two day residential courses. This is a post which requires excellent organisational and time management skills as the courses are run to an intense timetable. The pre course planning and delivery of the course takes place over several weeks prior to the course and requires the post holder to be comfortable in all aspects of administrative IT delivery as well as being able to undertake direct correspondence including meetings with the Course Director and phone calls with faculty and candidates. During the running of the two days of teaching and assessment the post holder must have the ability to lead the faculty through the delivery of the course which has a complex schedule with multiple training and assessment stations. They will also be responsible for managing and in particular supporting the candidates through what is recognised as a demanding but extremely rewarding educational experience .Whilst some aspects of the post require the ability to work as an individual there are many areas where the post holder needs to work within a team environment and especially be able to lead the whole ATLS team through the two day course. The post holder will be required to be responsible for the overall delivery of this vitally important training programme in conjunction with the Course Directors and this is a valuable opportunity for someone who is interested in a career in Medical education to learn from experienced senior members of Faculty. There is in addition a considerable responsibility for arranging the practical aspects of the course including the setting up of skill stations and handling of medical equipment. Providing a high level comprehensive administrative service to the department. Including supporting recruitment administration, plus other administrative duties to ensure the timely and efficient running of the department. Maintaining, and monitoring established quality office systems and procedures, liaising with other team members as appropriate. Organising and prioritising workload based on the needs of the service The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the lead Course Director, Dr Rosalind Roden and the current ATLS course co-ordinator who will provide training and orientation during the initial months.
