Summary

Pathway to Potential (PtP) is a comprehensive support service designed to help young people aged 14 to 18 years old to thrive. Delivered as a partnership between Birmingham City University, Barnardo's, Liminal Education, and Our Place Support the initiative provides young people with:

➢ One-to-One Mentoring from trained Volunteer Mentors

➢ Specialist Tuition to support educational progress

➢ Support Workers to help navigate challenges and barriers

➢ Experience Days to raise aspirations around further education and careers.

Together, these services help young people build confidence, improve educational attainment, and raise aspirations while overcoming social and emotional obstacles.

The PtP Family Support Worker will play a key role in supporting children and their families as they navigate the service. This role involves conducting initial assessments to identify each family's specific needs and ensuring they receive the appropriate elements of the service.

Throughout their engagement with PtP, the Family Support Worker will provide holistic family support, addressing wider challenges such as housing, cost-of-living concerns, and school placements. The role also includes conducting endpoint assessments to evaluate progress once tuition and/or mentoring support is completed.

This is a new position within a new service, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape and develop the role as part of the pilot phase.

Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to 31 July 2027 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
