My Life was established in 2012 as a result of a group of people with disabilities and their families wanting something different to traditional types of health/social care services and wanting more choice and control over their own lives. We pride ourselves on being a unique service. We offer personalised support to a diverse range of individuals living in their own homes. Each person has their own dedicated team, delivering support that’s tailored specifically to their needs and preferences. *Alex is a friendly, sociable person who brings light to those around him. He has a gentle nature, and a real zest for life. He loves being around people, and his days are often filled with the things that bring him happiness.
About the Role:
As Support Worker / Personal Assistant, you will support a male with Autism on a 1:1 basis during the day. You’ll work closely with him and his support network, focusing on promoting his well-being, fostering skills, and enhancing his sense of community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Daily Support: Assist *Alex by picking him up from his home to access the community and our site here at My Life.
• Community Adventures: Accompany *Alex on outings – whether it’s going to the local charity shops, attending our site here at My Life to take part in our life and skills building sessions and spending time with horses and animals and in our hair salon.
• Skill Building & Independence: Work alongside *Alex to develop life skills that boost his confidence and well-being.
• Be a Friendly Confidant: Build a genuine connection with *Alex, providing companionship, encouragement, and a positive vibe every day.
• Health & Well-being Monitoring: Look out for *Alex’s safety, well-being, and overall happiness.
About You:
• Kind and Reliable: You have a calm and steady presence.
• Friendly and Supportive: You have a friendly nature and love making a difference in someone’s day.
• Comfortable Accessing the Community: You are happy to support someone out in the community to live their best life.
• Experience with Autism (Preferred but Not Required): Whether you’ve worked in care or not, a great attitude and willingness to learn are what matter most.
• Driver’s License is Required: For picking *Alex up and taking him out into the community and to our site in Standish, Wigan.
