The Role & Responsibilities:
The Corporate Communications team work with a variety of teams across the council to keep our residents and businesses fully informed about the latest Council news. The corporate website is the central hub of information that supports all communications activity, providing relevant and up to date information on our services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Digital Content Officer - who loves writing copy and has an excellent eye for detail - to produce engaging content for our new website.
As well as being familiar with Google analytics and web design, you will have a good understanding of how to gain quality feedback from website users to improve accessibility and page navigation.
You will lead on the development of a web content strategy, provide expert advice and guidance to staff and councillors, and monitor and report back on website compliance and performance.
The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills and be ready to build strong relationships with others. You will work closely with communications, digital and IT colleagues, to ensure good governance and business processes are followed.
Who We Are Looking For
Strong communication skills – a good communicator who is approachable and able to listen to and respect the views of others.
Good written and spoken English - an ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in written and verbal form.
Demonstrable experience working with a content management system to create and manage website content for an organisation.
A solid understanding of search engine optimisation and analytics tools, and how best to use them.
Two years of experience in the development of websites and creating digital online content.
Familiarity with online content standards including accessibility requirements.
Proficient in the use of IT systems including Word, Outlook and Excel.
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload by effective time management.
GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above (Grades 4 – 9) or equivalent.
