About the Role

We are looking to appoint for September 2025 a qualified highly motivated and experienced teacher of the deaf who can work in partnership with schools, settings and families to promote the achievement, inclusion and independence of hearing impaired children and young people across Nottingham City.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven teaching experience (QTS)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A good understanding of the barriers to learning that deaf children and young people face and how these may be overcome.
  • BSL level 2 or a willingness to gain the qualification
  • Knowledge of language development
  • Experience of working with deaf children and children with SEND
  • A commitment to inclusive education

Applications are also welcomed from good teachers in mainstream or special schools looking to develop their career in working with pupils with a hearing impairment. You must be willing to gain the mandatory qualification (distance learning) as a teacher of the deaf within 3 years of taking up the post.

- A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
