Summary

MANAGEMENT, SUPERVISORY, TEACHING, TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: To participate in postgraduate and undergraduate medical teaching and to the training and development of all members of the multidisciplinary team. To participate in the training and supervision of all Specialist, foundation, and core resident doctors under your responsibility. ON-CALL RESPONSIBILTIES: There are up to two on call rotas. There is the emergency on call rota at the QE based on two consultants being on call at a time and sharing the nights. On call is Monday to Thursday, and the Friday to Sunday the following weekend. This is no elective work scheduled when on call and the Friday to Monday after the weekday on call is scheduled as a day off (after the morning handover). We are also developing a Surgical SDEC and a successful appointee will be asked to support the launch of this. Elective work will be discussed on an induvial basis with a successful appointee. For those with a Lower GI interest there may be another on call at Solihull Hospital around the elective patients on that site. This is Monday to Sunday and is shared by all of the colorectal consultants at the two main hospital sites. For further information about this role, please see the attached Job Description.
