Summary

Work with clinical staff to ensure evidence-based policies and practice is followed forthe management of: Infection prevention & control1 Isolated/infected patients Provide instruction and training to individuals and groups of staff on all of the above aspects which will require persuasive, motivational, negotiating andreassurance skills to overcome barriers to understanding. Assist in National & Trust wide, ward and departmental based education and training programmes. Identify training needs and gaps in knowledge and practice with regards toInfection prevention,. Assist in compilation of root cause analysis, ActionPlans and propose changes in areas of poor compliance. Answer public and patient enquiry regarding risk of infection and itsmanagement. Educate clinical & non-clinical staff to ensure practice is effectivelydocumented and standards are adhered to in relation to intravenous accessdocumentation. Work in close liaison with medical microbiology & clinical staff on all wards,working creatively and introduce innovative methods in order to integrateinfection control into all. Participate actively in observational studies and audit regardingbacteraemia's. To ensure good communication with relevant multidisciplinary memberswithin the Trust about practice. Be able to assess and identify sensitive situations and manage conflict where a more senior member of the Infection Control Team needs to be involved. Produce regular reports on the progress of the project for the InfectionControl Team.
