Summary
Support the Head of Patient Safety in the professional leadership and management of patient safety in order to facilitate the delivery of excellent clinical practice and innovation that is evidence based and measurable. Undertake a lead role in the senior management team, with significant leadership and autonomous management responsibility, whilst directing, leading and motivating the patient safety team to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of the patient safety agenda. Provide assurance to the Head of Patient Safety that there are appropriate, effective systems for the investigation of clinical incidents, providing specialist advice and support as required based on advanced knowledge of the locality clinical governance structures and systems. Provide leadership and direction in situations where highly complex ideas and concepts need to be conveyed, understood, accepted and implemented. Ensure there is an effective analysis of concerns, reviewing the corrective measures proposed and monitoring their delivery, to ensure that systems/processes/practice changes occur and that there is learning across the Health Board. Lead and support an open culture of enquiry ensuring communication channels and structures are in place with learning and innovation encouraged and shared for the benefit of patients and staff across all areas.
