Summary
Main Duties Act as a senior system implementation specialist with high level of EPR system expertise and knowledge as part of the Patient Systems Team. Manage and plan projects or programmes of work either to implement new systems or significant enhancements to existing systems. Manage multi-strands of projects or programmes of work. To be responsible for the planning/review/update of a number of projects/programmes of work. Lead and guide a wide range of clinical and operational users to affect change through the use of health care systems. This will be users at all levels throughout the organisation with varying levels of understanding and where there may be barriers to understanding the changes being made. Attend meetings to discuss proposed IT changes where there may be conflicting opinions providing highly specialist advice and guidance e.g. patient safety committee, clinical advisory group, Innovation Digital Transformation Group (IDTG), Information Governance Committee (IGC) and Trust Management Group (TMG). Providing high level system expertise to guide and influence corporate and clinical use of systems and requirements for new systems. Work with managers to influence and negotiate IT priorities. Ensure changes in process through use of IT systems align with the Trusts IM&T and other Trust strategies. Work closely with CCIO, CNMAHPIO as well as AD Patient Systems to ensure a co-ordinated approach to IT strategy, implementation and updates. Provide IT input into Business cases as required, providing advice and guidance in the selection of new systems, exploring with software suppliers any expenditure in relation to new systems and validating whether the costs are required and/essential or desirable. Identify IT solutions to patient related software system issues. Write or provide input into SOPs in relation to new or different ways of working as result of software changes or new system implementation. Analyse, diagnose complex system faults for a number of Patient System Software Applications to all users throughout the Trust. Provide active management of Trusts assets through the escalation and management of unresolved software issues, particularly in relation to software being not fit for purpose or representing a clinical risk. Liaising with software suppliers and Assistant Director IM&T in relation to this. Deputise for AD IM&T (Patient Systems) as required. Training and team member support Provide specialist training to other Patient System Team members on new systems or new functionality as well as to users across the organisation when rolling out new software or system updates. Ensure other team members are kept up to date with changes so that they are able to carry out first and second line support. Provide guidance and support to other team members as in-depth system specialists. Help other team members gain skills in new systems or functionality so that they can take on more complex support tasks (liaising with Head of Patient Systems). Allocate work as required in resolution of support issues or in relation to new projects or system updates in liaison with Head of Patient Systems/Assistant Director IM&T. Other duties Liaise with suppliers, users and IM&T teams and carry out any testing required ensuring a speedy resolution to problems Monitor system performance and other issues, escalating recurrent or major problems or patterns to the Head of Patient Systems or Assistant Director of IM&T (Patient Systems). Work closely with users and or IM&T teams in developing objectives for improving systems and identifying potential of ways of resolving problems Systems Development and Testing Lead and test design test plans for upgrades of new systems ensuring that systems are fit for purposed and present no clinical risks. Testing new software releases in line with the test plans and advising software suppliers of any problems with the new the software or software versions Ensure that the production of software changes documentation is carried out Discuss the impact of software changes upon service with appropriate managers and providing guidance as to best software configuration required for service Advise users of changes in software functionality and providing support when a new version is newly installed Providing a lead to users other IM&T teams in the implementation of new software versions as required Management Act as a project manager in respect of planning software implementation, software modifications and/or software upgrades as required. Take responsibility for workload and deadlines, ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with overall Workload plans and Service Level Agreements. Manage, develop and document support procedures in accordance with Trust Policy and departmental initiatives, identifying and actioning development requirements General Keep up-to-date with operational developments throughout the hospital, highlighting any changes, which may have an impact on the way in which data is collected on patient systems. Keep up-to-date with clinical guidelines and or software developments which may have a bearing on the way in which systems are used. Keep up-to-date with working practices (and changes therein) in order to support and/or train users of systems effectively Keep up-to-date with IM&T work plans, and the teams contribution to the IM&T directorate Keep up-to-date with Information Governance and advising users of its impact in relation to the use of systems Contribute to the development of policies and practices in order to continually improve the service.
