The Opportunity:

The EDA/CAD Support Engineer will provide specialist technical support to ensure the efficient operation of EDA/CAD workflows critical for CMOS integrated circuit (IC) design. This role supports the development of analogue, mixed-signal, and digital ICs by addressing complex EDA/CAD issues, customising tools, and managing Process Design Kits (PDKs). Interfacing with researchers from CEF and the APRIL AI Hub will offer the opportunity to support the deployment of ML tools and pipelines applied to the different facets of Device Design.

The post-holder will engage with IC design teams, academic colleagues, and industry stakeholders to drive innovation and maintain state-of-the-art capabilities in IC design processes. This role requires technical expertise, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term to 31st January 2029.



Your skills and attributes for success:

Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Proven expertise in EDA/CAD tools and workflows for CMOS IC design.
Practical and demonstrable experience in using industrial EDA/CAD tools like Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens/Mentor Graphics.
Strong understanding of CMOS technologies and IC design workflows, including analogue, mixed-signal, and digital circuits.
Proficiency in programming languages like SKILL, Tcl, Perl, Python, and shell scripting.
Familiarity with maintaining the infrastructure and managing the pipelines necessary for deploying ML/DL models is desirable.
