Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and proactive Deputy Head of Year to join a dynamic secondary school in Tower Hamlets (E3). This role involves supporting the Head of Year in managing student behaviour, attendance, and pastoral care, ensuring that all students receive the guidance and support necessary for their personal and academic development.
You will play a crucial role in monitoring student progress, implementing intervention strategies, and liaising with parents and external agencies to promote student welfare.
- Assist the Head of Year in leading all aspects of year group activities, aligning with the school's aims and values
- Monitor student progress across subjects, collaborating with tutors to enhance student achievement
- Promote outstanding behaviour, establishing policies and practices that encourage positive student conduct
- Support the development and implementation of intervention programmes, working with the Head of Pastoral, SENCO, and other colleagues to support families
- Serve as a key point of contact for parental communication regarding the year group
- Deputise for the Head of Year as necessary, ensuring continuity in leadership and support for students
- Previous experience in a pastoral role within a secondary school is essential
- Strong understanding of behaviour management, attendance monitoring, and student welfare strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to the school's pastoral support system
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
