About us:

Lakshmi Narayana Trust is a Hindu Religious charity that runs a very big temple (Sri Mahalakshmi Temple) in London for the Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi and Lord Sri Narayanar. The devotees visit the temple from all over the UK, Europe and also from all over the world. The temple is also having Sri Hanuman and number of other deities. The Temple also provides free food (annadhanam/prasadham) to the devotees in the afternoon and evening and we offer neivedhyam to the deities three times a day.

Remuneration:

The candidate will be paid annual salary of £23,500.00 for 36 hours of work per week. We comply with the National Minimum Wage regulations and we also provide holiday pay and other benefits according to the laws of UK.

Job Description:

The Assistant Priests are responsible for assisting main temple priests in temple poojas (worship), abhishegam (bathing deities), alangaram (decorating deities), homam, religious ceremonies and special prayers as per Hindu agama (rules). The assistant priest should maintain the temple sanctum and temple hall at highest level of tidiness and cleanliness. This includes the keeping all deities shrines clean, disposal of all used flowers, washing of deities clothing after the prayers, store washed and dried clothing, pooja items in the designated area in the temple. Assist devotees to liaise with temple office and main priests to book pooja, abhishekam and other services. The assistant priest should be able to prepare neivedhyam to offering to deities. To be able to carry out other reasonable religious duties as directed by main priests time to time.

Qualifications and Skills:

Candidates should affirm their faith as a Hindu as the job role involves assisting in worshipping and assisting poojas for the Hindu Gods and the preparation of the food in a traditional way and offering to the deities. Candidates should have sufficient training and experience to work under a main priest in the Hindus Vedas and agarmas to enable to carry out the duties of the assistant Priest. Candidates should be willing to accept both Saiva and Vaishnava faith of Hinduism as the Temple is having both deities and temple follows vaihanasa agama. Candidates are expected to be more spiritual and godly and obtained and learnt mantras and customary way of worshipping the God traditionally from the main Priests of Temples. Candidates are expected to consider this role as a service to God.

The person with at least three years’ training and experience in a similar role is essential.
