Management Vetting

As a Solution Architect within the Digital & Data Directorate, you will review and interpret business requirements, design and implement application and solution architectures, and ensure security and protection measures for systems and data. You will work with users, regional partners, and national stakeholders to create solutions that are reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned with the Force's strategic direction.
You will lead the technical design of solutions, ensure integration with existing and target architectures, and provide expert advice and guidance on system integrations and solution architecture. Additionally, you will write technical documentation, support solution implementation, and serve as the technical authority on architectural standards for projects.
Key duties:
Act as the technical design authority, providing leadership throughout the design, development, build, test, and deployment phases.
Contribute to architecture design principles, methods, and governance, ensuring adherence to standards.
Lead and collaborate with internal teams, partners, and providers to develop solutions that address the Council's challenges.
Maximise resources and value for money to improve outcomes.
Present technical solutions to senior stakeholders in a clear, non-technical manner.
Work with stakeholders to develop technology solutions aligned with strategic goals and user needs.
Analyze existing systems, evaluate emerging technologies, integrate systems, manage projects, and engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational needs.
Key requirements:
Degree or equivalent professional experience / qualifications
Detailed knowledge of business/technology ecosystems, including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, DaaS, APIs, microservices, and cyber security practices to mitigate risks
Expertise in producing high-quality documentation, taking a proactive approach to work, and sharing best practices and resources
Demonstrable experience as a Solution Architect or in a technical/solution delivery capacity for 3+ years
Extensive experience gathering technical/business requirements and engaging stakeholders up to director level in large, complex organisations
Proven leadership in large teams across operational services or digital transformation, with expertise in designing and delivering scalable, high performance, and resilient solutions
Strong ICT skills, including Microsoft Office and other software products, with a good understanding of GDPR, information governance, and data & cyber security
