Summary
Job overview
To support the well-being and care experiences of service users, enabling them to access social networks and maintain personal interests in accordance with best practice, agreed standards, legislation, and within the financial budget. To develop and plan programs, outings, and events, and oversee the implementation of activities. To work alongside our healthcare team to support the holistic needs of our service users.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Ensure service users are at the heart of events and programmes and that such
activities enhance their well-being.
• Assist in planning and implementation of entertainment, events and outings.
• Facilitate activities designed to promote well-being through social engagement.
• Research activities and events.
• Plan events within allocated budget.
• Organise and plan activity programmes reflecting service users’ preferences.
• Assist service users to express personal preferences and routines, supporting the
facilitation of hobbies and interests.
• Support service users to access internet and communications, such as letter writing, Skype and FaceTime.
• Support service users with some aspects of daily living.
• Promote and encourage appropriate risk taking.
• Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise
opportunities for service users.
• Work alongside the healthcare team to support and facilitate communication
between service users and the individuals important to them.
• Work alongside the healthcare team to support the emotional and social wellbeing
of residents.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of individuals.
• Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service
• Maintain skills at a current level, undertake such training and development as
required from time-to-time, and progress knowledge.
• Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
• Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the management
Person requirements
• Good English - written and verbal
• Proficient computer skills
• Leadership skills
• Communication skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Experience of working with people, in particular those who may have additional
support needs
• Knowledge of event planning practices and techniques
• Understand person-centred care and demonstrate treating people as individuals and respecting choices
• Understanding of wellbeing and what is important to service users
