Skills & Experience:

NVQ Level 4 Qualification in a relevant programme of study OR extensive equivalent experience
Completed level 1, 2 and 3 of the IASS legal training requirements
Extensive theoretical knowledge in a relevant area related to the role
In depth working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures of the relevant area of work
Substantial relevant working knowledge of national standards for an IASS
Extensive experience of delivering SEND Information, Advice and support
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a variety of stakeholders including service users and having confidence to challenge systems and processes
Proven written and oral communication skills, with the ability to produce comprehensive reports



What's involved with this role: We’re looking for someone to join the SENDIASS team to support families by managing casework and completing appeal paperwork with parents and carers. You will help ensure the service responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of service users. A strong understanding of SEND and the Children and Families Act 2014 is important, as well as the ability to engage sensitively and consistently with families.

You’ll also work at a fast pace, ensuring families feel supported and their cases are moving forward.

Experience in co-working with families and knowledge of SENDIASS is essential.

Key duties:

Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, school staff, and relevant agencies.
Conduct assessments of children, young people, and families based on statutory criteria.
Refer cases to other agencies as needed and utilize available resources.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic case records.
Advise internal and external stakeholders, including providing guidance to parents.
Deliver preventative and remedial support to parents, pupils, and the Local Authority in home and school settings.
Facilitate and mediate meetings with parents, schools, and the Local Authority to resolve disputes.
