Summary
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants with expertise in PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) and complex needs to provide essential support within specialist settings across Leeds. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with PMLD and complex medical needs, helping them to thrive and achieve significant progress in their education.
We are looking for Teaching Assistants who:
- Have experience working with children or young people with a wide range of SEND, including autism spectrum conditions, moderate to severe learning difficulties, hearing and visual impairments, specific genetic conditions, physical disabilities, communication and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Are committed to supporting students' emotional, social, and academic development.
- Demonstrate a positive, patient, and adaptable approach when working with students who have moderate to severe learning difficulties, complex medical conditions, physical disabilities, Down's Syndrome, hearing/visual impairments, and Autism.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons while fostering a calm and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Are confident in providing one-to-one or small group support for students with diverse needs.

Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with a Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, grade C or above.
- Additional qualifications or experience in special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of strategies to support children with a range of SEND, including autism spectrum conditions, learning difficulties, hearing/visual impairments, genetic conditions, physical disabilities, communication challenges, and social/emotional/mental health needs.
- Ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds, showing patience and empathy.
- Able to maintain focus and positivity in a dynamic school environmen
