Summary
Laboratory Assistant
Midland Pathology Services Ltd is a private clinical pathology lab, offering blood testing services to Private Hospitals, clinics and GPs across the country.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Assistant to join our ever-growing friendly team.
Hours of work are 5 hours per day Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm.
The hourly rate for this role will be £12 which will be salaried and paid on the last working day of each month.
The position is due to start ASAP.
Experience and qualifications
Candidates must hold good GCSE’s.
A Scientific interest and A ‘Level’s in Biology or Chemistry are essential for this role.
Candidates must have a good level of computer literacy and be able to confidently type with a degree of speed and accuracy. Experience of using Microsoft Access or Excel is desirable.
Role and Responsibilities
As Laboratory Assistant your role and responsibilities following basic training are, but not restricted to the following:
• Help to open the daily workload containing samples each day in sample reception.
• Help to label and process samples for testing or outsourcing to other labs when needed.
• Book in sample requests onto the laboratory database for testing.
• Prepare sample collection kits.
• Manage courier services and consignments of collection kit orders.
• Answer the telephone when needed and direct calls to the appropriate member of staff.
• Help to maintain Document Control.
• Help to keep storage areas organised.
• Maintain good communication between all members of staff.
• Perform other nonspecialized laboratory tasks.
• Manage Daily, Weekly and Monthly House keeping tasks.
• Follow any reasonable duties given by other members of staff fitting to the level of employment.
This position will be subject to a 3-month probationary period and will depend upon successful completion of basic training.
The closing date for this position is the 21st of March 2025, but may close sooner due to a high level of applications.
