Founded in 1685, our client’s company is one of the world’s oldest family-owned businesses and holder of a Royal Warrant. They design and make jewellery, embroidery, medals, ribbon & insignia, and a broad range of other identity-based products for state institutions and corporate clients around the world.

They are seeking an experienced Production Planner to join their skilled and friendly team. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing production planning procedures from the ground up across both their Birmingham and Bedworth sites. You will play a key role in improving efficiency, ensuring traceability, and optimising production schedules to meet business objectives.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Proven experience as a Production Planner (minimum 5 years) with a track record of implementing processes
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems
• Advanced IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in material requirements planning (MRP) and production scheduling
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Experience in Textiles or Jewellery manufacturing is advantageous

What will your role look like?

• Develop and implement a new production planning process across both sites
• Create and maintain production, work, and shipment schedules, prioritizing key job orders for efficiency
• Coordinate the flow of work and materials between departments to meet production and customer deadlines
• Identify and address production bottlenecks, resolving issues to minimize delays.
• Monitor material, labour, and equipment availability to adjust production schedules accordingly
• Collect and analyse key production data (setup times, run times, idle times, etc.) and present insights in meetings
• Ensure Bill of Materials (BoM) accuracy, making corrections and updates in the ERP system
• Generate and print job orders, run shortage reports, and track plan vs. actual cost variances
• Develop new tools in Excel for improved data tracking and reporting
• Work closely with shop floor teams, customer service, and management to ensure smooth production operations
