Temporary Hostel Night And Weekend Staff

The candidate will need to be able to get to & from work by motorised vehicle or bike given the hours available.
No set hours. Looking for bank staff to be able to undertake shifts at short notice or to cover for long term sickness / leave. There may be the opportunity in the future to have regular days / hours.
All night staff need to be able to cover any of the following hours at all sites:
Monday to Friday 4.45pm to 9.15am and all weekend. (Monday – Friday hours are split cover from 4.45pm – 01.15am or 00.45am – 09.15am, weekend hours are 08.15 – 20.15).

Basic DBS disclosure required
Driving Licence
Skills & Experience:
Had an eye test in the past 12 months
Knowledge of homelessness issues
Experience of controlling access to a building
Experience of working in a hostel
Experience of dealing with people with complex needs in difficult situations.
Experience of lone working and ability to work on own initiative without close supervision
Has a good level of IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications
Strong verbal and written communicator & can use knowledge gained to fully understand customers circumstances
Proactive & highly motivated with the ability to work quickly, accurately and consistently when under pressure
What's involved with this role: We are looking for someone who is looking for a challenging and rewarding role where you are able to support people every day and provide a safe environment. You would be working as part of a night team to provide informal support to residents and ensure the security of the buildings by controlling access and monitoring CCTV.
This role is lone working once training is completed.
Key responsibilities:
Control access to Council-owned hostels, ensuring security and managing risks to residents.
Monitor and record entries, health and safety issues, repairs, and security breaches using computer systems.
Conduct remote security checks via CCTV to verify the identity of those seeking entry.
Grant entry to authorized residents and visitors only.
Deny entry to unauthorized residents and visitors.
Identify and report necessary repairs to the premises, furnishings, and equipment.
Respond promptly to fire evacuations.
