Summary
Teaching Assistant / Technician Construction (Multi Skills)
Central Building & Welding Academy are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated teaching assistant who can inspire and empower our learners to achieve their full potential. Our learners are currently engaged on their level 1 construction training programmes and on target to achieve their qualifications. At CBWA we pride ourselves on our ability to support learners that have struggled to engage in regular academic environments. This course is an established part of our curriculum, and we are a high achieving training provider with strong links to the local authority and many of the schools in our area.
Our group sizes are manageable, and, in this role, you will be working with one other lead tutor and teaching a maximum of twelve learners between both of you.
CBWA have fully equipped workshops, in line with current industry standards and extensive range of hand tools and equipment.

As a teaching assistant in Construction, you should:
• Hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards (we will fund)
• A relevant construction qualification/industry experience in construction or willing to work towards
• Ability to support with functional skills within relevant subject area
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Job title:- teaching assistant Tutor CAP (multi-skills)
Carry out learner onboarding, inductions and associated processes.
Deliver a timetable of learning as agreed with the Academy Manager.
Undertake qualification delivery, planning and assessment as per the requirements of the Centre, awarding body.
Provide an inclusive learning environment and embed British values, diversity and equality into the curriculum.
Ensure ILPS are completed appropriately for each individual learner’s requirements, including SMART target setting and incorporating planned review points. To embed IAG, coaching and soft skills such as CV writing.
To complete BKSB assessments/diagnostics and embed FS into the delivery.
To complete pastoral care and ensure safeguarding of all learners. This will include completing any recommended safeguarding training and completing internal and external safeguarding documentation.
To work closely with the IQA/Lead IQA and complete any actions required to support the IQA process.
Complete registers, progress reviews and other documentation to the required standards of the contract and ensure that these are communicated to colleagues within their required deadlines. E.g., daily, termly, monthly.
Monitor performance of the learners on an ongoing basis and effectively report to management where and when necessary.
Attend behaviour meetings and liaise with schools, parents and local authority.
Ensure that support systems are provided to facilitate positive retention, achievement and progression.
Timely completion of assessment and documentation to meet awarding body, requirements.
Submit portfolios in a timely manner for interim and summative verification to the internal moderator.
Contribute where appropriate to learner disciplinary action requirements and complete incident report and disseminate to relevant parties.
Maintain a log of the equipment used by the learners in your department and respond appropriately to prevent the loss of equipment through theft and damage.
Promote and ensure safe working practices in line with current Health and Safety legislation, including health and safety department inspections and risk assessments.
To act as a first aider (training can be given).
To complete fire Marshal duties and complete at least 2 emergency evacuation procedures per year.
Ensure the work area is clean and safe for all the staff and learners on a daily and ongoing basis.
Undertake appropriate learning and development activities as required for the job role.
To carryout repairs and work on refurbishment and re-purpose projects across the academy.
This is not an exhaustive list, and other duties may be required for this role.
Based on-site at Central Building & Welding Academy you will be working with small groups of 14-16 year old learners to develop their construction skills.
Our tutors ensure that the appropriate training plans are in place and that advice and guidance is given when required while ensuring they deliver the highest level of training and engage with the learners and help them to reach their potential.
In this role you will be delivering accredited level 1 multi skills in construction under the guidance of our lead tutor.
