Summary
Successful applicants will be expected to become integrated members of the team involved in the day-to-day care of patients on the wards, outpatient clinics and theatres. There is an- call commitment. Ward care will involve the management of post-operative patients. Although our trust does not have an emergency department, the JRU receives urgent referrals from local referring units for urgent cases, most commonly revision arthroplasty. Clinics involve the review of both new and follow up patients within a secondary, and tertiary setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to see a broad range of pathology and enhance clinical skills. There are weekly MDTs and the candidate will be expected to present upcoming surgical cases and ensure appropriate investigations have been completed. We are the regional major revision centre for knee arthroplasty and therefore we run a weekly regional MDT There will be between 3 and 4 theatre session per week involving all aspects of hip and knee arthroplasty. The work is specialist but the successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to improve their surgical skills over the course of the year.
