The temple, dedicated to Lord Ghanapathy, was the first fully consecrated south Indian Hindu temple in Europe. Job Description:
(1) Waking up and tending to the Deities and carrying out their daily rituals such as pooja, daily bathing and alangaram (dressing).
(2) Chanting of traditional sanskrit mantras and texts.
(3) Ensure that the deities and the altars are kept clean and tidy at all times.
(4) Keeping tidy and arranging on a daily basis the cupboards used to store deities’ clothing, pooja items, etc
(5) Other associated duties.
None of the rituals, rites, poojas etc that are performed by you in our temple involves any preaching or leading a congregation with prayers etc.
Skills:
• Ordained/conferred to Kurukkkalship (Vedaagamas)
• Brahmin lineage.
• Able to recite/chant basic Vedic mantra’s and Slokas to the Deities.
• Be able to converse fluently in Tamil
• Be willing to learn English as part of their personal development
• Recognised training, acceptable to the selection panel, in the Hindu Vedas and
Agamas to enable the carrying out of the Religious workers duties.
This vacancy is exempt from the: Sex Discrimination Act 1975, (SDA) Section 7(II)(e); the Race Relations Act (RRA) and Equality Act 2010 due to genuine religious requirements. As a condition of your employment you will be required to reside within the vicinity of the temple premises (in accommodation provided by us).
