Summary

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to lead our Building Control Service here at Thanet District Council.

It is an exciting time within Building Control and you will be required to develop the council’s response and robustness in regards to the Building Safety Act 2022.

You will lead the Building Control team which is currently 3 surveyors and 2 technical support officers, manage delivery and development of the service to ensure and secure compliance with Building Control Regulations, associated legislation and the council’s corporate standards to ensure good building standards and public safety.

Main duties

You will lead the service, plan for and monitoring objectives to ensure the provision of effective, efficient and modern services with high standards of staff achievement and customer satisfaction. You will also be responsible for the implementation the Building Control Levy.

Take a lead in attracting new fee paying business, increasing the council’s market share of building regulations applications.

Requirements

You must have a comprehensive knowledge of building control legislation and government guidance and a comprehensive knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, understand its implications to the authority and department. You must be qualified to at least Level 2, A-F and a minimum of 5 years experience of supervising a team.

This role could also be considered as a part time position for the right applicant.
