Summary
Cardiac surgery at St George’s is looking to recruit band 5 nurses to join our cardiac surgery high dependency unit.
This new area comprises of 4 beds exclusively available for cardiac surgical patients who require level 2 care. This will include non-invasive ventilation, arterial and central venous monitoring, temporary epicardial pacing, vasoactive medications and chest drain management. You will also contribute to the delivery of the cardiac surgical ERAS programme. As well as taking patient’s out of ICU you will also support the ward in managing cardiac surgical patients who acutely deteriorate and require level 2 care.
You will work within a small team led by a senior nurse to deliver high quality care to patients, there will be opportunities for you to develop your clinical and leadership skills and we are willing to develop and deliver bespoke educational packages depending on your personal wishes and needs.

You will need to have a minimum of 6-12 months post registration experience and it would be preferable if you had experience with a cardiac surgical or cardiology setting.
Providing excellent nursing care. As skills and competencies develop, taking charge and actively participating in and contributing to the management of the ward or department on a regular basis. Supervising and mentoring junior staff.

We are looking for band 5 nursing staff who have some post registration experience and who are looking to develop their enhanced care skills within a small and friendly team, there will be opportunities to undertake in house and university courses.
