Summary

With such an exciting portfolio of projects planned for AMP8 to keep the water flowing across the region, our ability to manage our work and outperform against our customer’s expectations will come under greater scrutiny.  To help us achieve success we are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer.  

What will you be doing as our new Senior Geotechnical Engineer?

We’ll look to you to provide sector-level leadership and strategic direction and lead the geotechnical team within the alliance. Working on a diver programme of water recycling and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Discipline Management

Represent the @one Alliance as a leader in geotechnical engineering.

Ensure quality in geotechnical design by developing and implementing robust procedures, standards, and guidance to achieve a “right first time” approach.

Collaborate with Design Managers and Civil Leads to allocate skilled resources to projects, ensuring competency and excellence from concept to detailed design.

Oversee and assess the performance of suppliers and subcontractors’ designs.

Ensure that geotechnical design aligns with health and safety standards, environmental considerations, procurement needs, and operational requirements.

Project Delivery

Partner with Principal Civil Engineers and project teams to achieve portfolio outcomes.

Ensure affordability by identifying and delivering value-driven opportunities.

Support discipline engineers to adopt appropriate methods and deliver designs on time and to the highest quality.

Lead sustainability efforts by producing designs that enhance environmental and social outcomes.

Contribute to risk, opportunities, and value management by challenging designs to achieve the best outcomes.

Health & Safety

Champion excellence in health, safety, and welfare for your discipline, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations.

Identify and address health, safety, and welfare concerns within your team.

Promote safe design practices and ensure all off-site activities are appropriately planned and risk assessed.

People & Team Development

Provide visible leadership to the geotechnical team, fostering engagement through regular discipline meetings and initiatives.

Manage and mentor team members, supporting their professional development and career progression.

Identify and address competency gaps within the team, supporting recruitment and the use of global resources where needed.

Transformation & Innovation

Inspire a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous improvement within the geotechnical discipline.

Drive carbon reduction and the sustainable use of natural capital in designs.

Lead the adoption of advanced techniques and technologies.

Collaborate with industry bodies and clients to challenge standards and drive industry-wide improvement.

About You:

To be successful in this position you will have proven leadership in Geotechnical engineering with experience in large-scale, multidisciplinary projects. You’ll hold a civil engineering or geology degree (or equivalent experience). Be committed to delivering safe, sustainable, and innovative engineering solutions, and possess strong interpersonal skills to lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team.
