Based in the Sheltered Housing Warden Service you will be required to work from different locations across the city, working full time, 37 hours per week.

Requirements

You will either hold a qualification meeting the Scottish Social Services Council registration requirements for Housing Support Workers, or have the ability to obtain such a qualification within a specified timescale.

Responsibilities

You will assist the tenants in sheltered housing schemes to enjoy a secure and comfortable environment, and live as independently as possible in their own home.

The post also has building management responsibilities where faults or breakdown of equipment in the sheltered complexes must be reported to the appropriate services without delay.

All Health & Safety requirements must be adhered to including all service Risk Assessments and Lone Working procedures. Relevant Moving & Handling training for this post will be provided.

The Individual

You will have experience in a similar field. You must be dependable and reliable, and able to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding in dealing with elderly/vulnerable people. You should also have a flexible approach to work and possess good communication skills, both written and verbal.

You must be able to work as part of a team, on your own initiative, and with minimal supervision.

You will be available to work shifts, including some evenings and weekends.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
