This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Planning Services Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £24,790 - £25,183 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

The postholder will initially be provided with the opportunity to gain development management experience at each stage of the process, including the validation of applications, and will be responsible for the management of a personal caseload of planning and/or enforcement cases, pre-application enquiries and any related appeals. There may also be an opportunity to gain experience working on the Caerphilly CBC 2nd Replacement Local Development Plan as it progresses through the Deposit stage and to work alongside the Councils Placemaking and Heritage Officers on the delivery of key housing and Town Centre regeneration schemes.

This placement will, therefore, provide the successful postholder with the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a busy Local Planning Authority and contribute to the necessary experience required for the RTPI’s Assessment of Professional Competence.

For the role, we ask that you have:

Evidence of pursuing a recognised planning qualification where the course incorporates or requires a yearout placement as an integral component for qualification.
Report writing, information gathering and presentation, good communication.
The ability to prioritise workload effectively and deliver work on targets.

We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
