Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and analytical individual with significant interest and understanding of information governance and digital technology, especially applied within the field of clinical health research, and excellent communication skills.
You will be a key player in the CDLS, supporting the secure linkage of clinical data sets from different clinical sites and ensuring the highest ethical, legal, and regulatory standards. You will also play a key role in supporting best use of these data for research – maximising potential secondary uses of pseudonymised clinical data for improved research and clinical benefits.
You will have the opportunity of working closely with experts in clinical research, informatics, and information governance.

You will be a key player in the CDLS supporting data linkage processing by which pseudonymised clinical data from different sources are linked for research in a way that protects confidentiality, maintains security and improves quality of data whilst maximising potential secondary uses of pseudonymised clinical data for improved research benefits. You will be working in an academic health sciences centre with extensive biomedical research experience, pioneering clinical services, robust governance arrangements and international reputation. You will be expected to undertake the tasks required for the day-to-day running of the CDLS as a safe haven and will be responsible to process data linkage, promote and support effective and secure secondary utilisation of clinical information to support and maintain well-being and improve healthcare delivery.

About Us:
You will play a key-role in the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) and the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Clinical Data Linkage Service (CDLS). The CDLS has been set up to enable secure linkage of clinical data from different sources to improve the scope for observational research whilst protecting the legal and ethical rights of patients.
The CDLS is an integral part of the BRC’s Clinical Informatics Service, which supports the use of clinical data for research purposes – largely through use of the CRIS system. We work closely with academics, clinicians, and information governance teams within the BRC and SLaM.
About our locations:
The Clinical Informatics Service is based at the King’s College London Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience Main Building at Denmark Hill, part of the Maudsley Hospital site.
Located less than 10 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range restaurants.
Job Description:
To support the development and implementation of streamlined protocols to effectively and accurately integrate pseudonymised clinical data from different sources, various medical specialties and multiple organisations; to enter into discussions with different research groups to generate collaborative ideas and meaningful correlations between specialties and organisations to stimulate potential secondary uses of clinical data.
To communicate effectively to respond to enquiries to the CDLS from internal and
external stakeholders and users of the CDLS service; to communicate complex technical ideas and arguments relevant to the CDLS function in ways which lay audiences can readily understand
To have active involvement in the development and implementation of new technical processes relevant to the CDLS; to develop a working knowledge of information technology, particularly in its application to secondary uses of clinical data
To support resolution of technical system and dataset integration issues; to support the development of standards and methods for data mining, coding and analysis
To respond to and resolve data mining performance issues; to work in accordance with local and national policies in the daily running of the CDLS in order to protect
confidentiality, maintain security and improve quality of data whilst maximising potential secondary uses of pseudonymised clinical data for improved research capability
To work with the Head of Information Governance to develop and implement
governance procedures to support the trusted third-party function and to maintain the security of the safe haven
To support quality and efficiency improvement initiatives for the CDLS
To support regular review processes and audits to ensure that agreed standards for the CDLS as a trusted third party are fully implemented and to undertake analytical tasks to support the CDLS with reports and publications as an output of service review and research
To be responsible for administrative tasks in the CDLS, including receiving and handling large volume datasets with complex and sensitive information from Kings Health Partners, the BRC and other national and international organisations
To support the development and delivery of training, awareness and promotional resources that will maximise benefits and secondary uses of pseudonymised clinical information from different sources to support research and to promote services provided by the CDLS in local, national and international forums
