Summary
We are seeking a part time 0.6WTE Consultant Psychiatrist for Merton Crisis Home Treatment Team. This is an established post. The vacancy has arisen due to current established full time post being split into 2 part time posts as the current postholder is reducing his clinical hours to take on additional managerial responsibilities.
This post is for 6 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week.
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic consultant psychiatrist to join this effective, friendly and rewarding service.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will work with the other Home Treatment Team Consultant, Dr Razvan Gutu, to provide senior cover to the Merton Home Treatment Team. The HTT provides an alternative to admission and provide early discharge from hospital support for adults living in the Merton area. The catchment area is diverse and includes a few areas of deprivation and relative affluence. The aim of the team is to provide an alternative to admission to hospital and to help facilitate early discharge from hospital.
If you are a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant psychiatrist fully registered with the GMC as well as holding Approved Clinician and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act, or a specialist trainee within six months of inclusion on the Specialist Register, we would be delighted to hear from you.
· Medical leadership, working in the multi-disciplinary team and working closely with, and providing cross-cover to other Consultant Psychiatrists and occasionally their Associate Clinical Director within their service line.
· Overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment, risk management, initiation of medication, and the recovery focused care delivered by the Team
· Availability within normal working hours 5 days a week for urgent review and management including formal Mental Health Act assessments.
·Taking a key role in inpatient bed management through regular liaison with inpatient consultants.
· Assuming Consultant responsibility for patients while they are under the HTT
· Providing cross-cover for the Consultant colleagues where necessary.
· Management of complex cases
·Allocation of resources, in collaboration with the team manager, to service users and carers.
·Ensuring the delivery of effective, efficient and safe, recovery focused mental health care.
·Multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working with social care, statutory and voluntary and third sector partners.
·Participating in care-pathways meetings with Inpatient and Community services.
·Participating in local borough Risk Forum meetings.
· Being an ambassador for the HTT externally.

The post will be managerially and professionally responsible to the Associate Clinical Director for Crisis Teams of theAcute andUrgent Care Service Line.
The Consultant will have Section 12 (2) approval of the Mental Health Act and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility).
The Consultant will spend some time providing assessments, reviews and treatment/aftercare recommendations. He/she will also jointly supervise a weekly caseload of an average of 30-40 patients seen by other members of the Home Treatment Team.
