Job summary
The Energy Officer will report to the Energy Manager and work to provide energy management services to cover the Glasgow Estate.
The main responsibilities will include: monitoring and reporting of utilities, ensuring compliance with regulations, assisting in the identification of energy-saving projects, and collaborating with the Estates teams for support in project development. Additionally, they will assist in the daily operations of utilities contracts across the GCC estate, managing their workload, coordinating and prioritising tasks to support the delivery of no/low-cost actions to major energy projects.

Main duties of the job
The Technical Officer (Energy Management) will:
• Support the estates team in the development and delivery of energy strategies, policies and initiatives to enable the delivery of an energy-efficient and sustainable organisation.
• Support with the introduction, development and promotion of improved energy efficiency schemes.
• Collect, store and process relevant data and information, creating accurate, timely and appropriate records.
• Input into engagement strategies and activities to help drive a reduction in energy and utility use whilst developing cooperative working relationships across the council and relevant stakeholders.
• Liaise with the Estates teams and internal and external stakeholders for project development and delivery.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice to provide technical expertise relating to energy, energy audits, and environmental management.
• Provide essential support in the monitoring and reporting on energy and water usage and costs, including resolution of invoicing issues, as well as record keeping of important documentation according to Energy legislation.
• Manage their workload, coordinating and prioritising tasks to meet timescales and budgetary requirements support the delivery of no/low-cost actions to major energy projects.
• Utilise existing and develop IT skills to collect, process and maintain relevant data and information, creating accurate, timely and appropriate records. For example, meter readings for recharges to other departments, invoices from utility providers.
• Attend site meetings and public events as required.
