Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a trainee with an interest in education to develop as a clinical medical educator within the exciting field of simulation. This is a twelve month post aimed at those who wish to build on their personal teaching experience to develop expertise in educational theory and practice.
Support and training will be provided to gain and develop key skills to facilitate and support the delivery of Simulation.The successful applicant would be expected to commit to developing themselves as a trained faculty member. There will be an expectation of participation in project work and encouragement and practical help to produce a poster presentation or publication.
The applicant must be a fully registered medical practitioner with a license to practice having fully completed the 2-year Foundation Programme. This post is not a recognised UK training post however the post holder will be supported in their continued professional development as a doctor in line with the study leave policy.
The post holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching and the development of teaching programmes not specifically related to simulation, as and when necessary and appropriate. The post also requires administration, project management and communications skills and working to protocols doctors at this level may not be familiar with. It is essential that applicants recognise the importance of developing their skills as required in these areas.
The postholder will work closely with the Clinical Simulation Lead, simulation faculty and Medical Education Manager, in the development of simulation activity and the Simulation Centre. They will also workclosely with the Medical Education administration team in integrating the management of the Simulation Centre into the operational framework of the Medical Education Department and the post holder will be required to contribute to day to day medical education activity together with the rest of the medical education team.
The post holder will be expected to work a 40 hour week, flexibly between the hours of 8am and 5.30pm in line with the needs of the service. There may be exceptional times when the periods of work may extend to starting at 7am or finishing at 7pm however these will be minimal.
