Summary
Responsibilities to include (depending on competency and training) Chronic disease management Wound management Venepuncture Health promotion and NHS checks Blood pressure measurement Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fitting Sexual Health and Family Planning Cervical Cytology Infection control Ear care Vaccinations and immunisations Child, Adult and travel Chaperoning Requesting pathology tests Filing of long term condition pathology results To undertake, following further training; INR management, adult health checks (in accordance with public health protocol) and other such tasks as may be required and agreed between the practice manager and the job holder. To provide holistic care for all registered patients, including opportunistic health promotion and management of patients appropriate continuing care after acute referrals. To provide counselling to promote health and reduce risk factors preventing disease and disability as possible To undertake home visits in accordance with the practices policy for visits To maintain accurate and up to date records of all patient contacts including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, advice and further action within the practices clinical computer system. To provide a high standard of evidence based nursing at all times working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice, practice policies and protocols To attend and contribute to practice and/or staff meetings and development meetings, including those relating to clinical governance issues. To attend personal development reviews at least annually and such training courses as may be agreed appropriate.
