The post holder will work as part of our team to provide high-quality care to the patients of our 37 practices across our Federation. The Nurse Associate will support the delivery of safe and effective nursing care, working under the supervision of our Lead Nurse and in accordance with NMC professional standards. Key areas of responsibility include: Phlebotomy Wound care and dressings NHS Health Checks and other preventive health activity Chronic disease monitoring and reviews within scope of competence Cervical cytology (smear) screening Oversight of the Federations phlebotomy service including supporting and supervising Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) in the delivery of phlebotomy and other delegated tasks Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties: Undertake venepuncture and ensure high standards of practice across the Federations phlebotomy service. Provide supervision, mentorship, and support to HCAs undertaking phlebotomy. Deliver wound assessment and management, including dressing changes and post-operative care. Conduct NHS Health Checks and contribute to proactive health promotion initiatives. Undertake chronic disease reviews (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, COPD, asthma) in line with protocols and within scope of competence. Perform cervical screening (following appropriate training and accreditation). Support vaccination and immunisation programmes as required. Accurately record clinical data on the relevant clinical systems (EMIS). Escalate concerns or clinical issues appropriately to the supervising Lead Nurse or GP. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and assess the competence of HCAs in phlebotomy, ensuring safe and consistent practice. Support the induction, training, and ongoing development of HCAs and student nurse associates. Participate in audits and service improvement activities related to phlebotomy and nursing services. Professional Responsibilities: Work within the NMC Code of Conduct and maintain professional registration as a Nurse Associate. Participate in annual appraisal, mandatory training, and continuing professional development. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and confidential patient records. Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the implementation of evidence-based practice. Communication and Team Working: Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and colleagues. Collaborate with NICS colleagues to support integrated patient care. Champion our NICS services with practices and PCNs including attendance at meetings where appropriate and valuable.
